Country cottage in Lothersdale near Skipton, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Our cosy little cottage faces south so gets lots of sunshine on the little terrace at the front, where you can sit on the bench and enjoy the countryside.  The lounge has open views onto the fields with sheep, cows, rabbits and lots of birds to watch, there is a small multifuel stove.  The kitchen has an electric oven, microwave, washing machine and breadmaker and also looks onto fields and stream. The dining room with open staircase has a large multifuel stove which runs the central heating. There is a porch off the kitchen at the back of the house for coats, boots etc with a toilet. Upstairs 1 double and 1 single bedroom ( with an extra bed under the single bed for a small child) and new bathroom in 2018 with bath, shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin. We have a carport where we store logs for the stoves.  Car parking is on the road outside our house, which is quiet. We have a car which you can use if needed. Lots of lovely walks from the house and nearby country inns to have meals. We are very close to the Yorkshire Dales, (great for walking and cycling) which has fabulous scenery and beautiful little villages.
The nearest train station is 2 miles away, there is no bus service in the village.

Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Leeds/Bradford - 18

Our home is a stone cottage built in 1844 at the end of a small terrace, in a quiet village very close to the Yorkshire Dales national park.  The village has a pub The Hare and hounds, which serves good food all day. There are fishing ponds for trout and coarse fishing with a bar and cafe, that serves meals on a Friday evening and during the day on Saturday and Sunday. Two hundreds yards away is the children's play ground and tennis court.  The Pennine Way, a national trail, passes through the centre of the village and there are lovely walks from the house. There is lots of wildlife to be seen from our windows, as we have fields front and back.
The nearest shops are 3 miles away in Crosshills, where there are also takeaways and restaurants.  Country Inns within 10 minutes drive for lovely meals. Skipton is our nearest town 5 miles away, it has a market 4 days a week, a railway station, museum, swimming pool, castle and the Leeds - Liverpool canal runs through the centre, canal boats can be hired for the day.  The nearest  golf course is 3 miles and there are 5 more courses within 10 miles.  We are 25 minutes from Haworth, home of the literary Bronte sisters, where there is a museum and steam railway.  There is another steam railway at Bolton Abbey, where there is a ruined Abbey and castle and beautiful walks along the river Wharfe and through the woods.
Leeds is our nearest city, which takes 40 minutes by train.  It is a great shopping centre with theatres, art galleries, museums and football, cricket and rugby stadiums. The nearest train station is 2 miles away. We are 1.5 hours drive from the Lake District which has some superb hill walking and scenery.  The Yorkshire dales are equally as beautiful for walking and cycling, about 30-50 minutes drive. We are only 3 miles from the Tour de Yorkshire and Grand Depart cycle routes, bikes can be hired in Skipton. The walled city of York with medieval castle and museums is 1.5 hours drive or you can go by train, changing in Leeds. The west coast beaches of Blackpool, St. Annes, Southport and Crosby are 1.5 hours away. The east coast beaches of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby are 2.5 to 3 hours away. Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes are quaint fishing villages also on the east coast.
