A beamed four hundred year old cottage in a semi rural situation
Our four hundred and fifty year old semi-detached cottage has three bedrooms and is situated up a private track in a semi rural situation on a golf course. Our cottage was originally one dwelling, but was divided into two at some point in the past: a smaller beamed cottage is attached on our other side. The cottage is full of character with oak beams, an inglenook fireplace and a large and airy sunroom opening out on to the wide terrace. Our cottage gardens, both front and back are a blaze of colour in the summer.
You can walk from the cottage across fields to the nearest village of Birling with its local pub. And just across the road is Lunsford Country Park with a pleasant walk around the lake and a coffee/ ice cream shop to add that extra treat to your excursion.
We are within two minutes of motorway access to the M20, Dover one way, London the other!
We are within reach of pretty Kentish villages, castles, National Trust country houses such as Ightham Mote, Knole Park, Hever Castle, Churchill's home at Chartwell, and many more lovely places.

About the neighborhood
We are up a private track off the A228 in a semi rural situation . Situated adjacent to the temporarily closed Oast Park Golf Course, we have a field in front of the cottage and we are not overlooked at the back. We are in the middle of three old beamed Kentish farm cottages. The surroundings at the bottom of the farm track are busy, but we are in a little haven of our own, in what used to be pear orchards and strawberry fields. These were converted to the Golf course some time back, and that is now closed.
It is possible to follow the footpath and walk over the fields to the pub in the pretty village of Birling. Our cat once followed us there - and all the way back!

La maison est un petit paradis avec un jardin anglais comme on peut en rêver. C'est formidable d'être là car c'est tranquille, bucolique, on peut facilement aller marcher, les petites villes aux alentours sont toutes charmantes.
The cottage was great with a lovely garden. We found our exchange partner yo be really helpful and a great communicator; the exchange went very smoothly.

We are experienced exchangers, having completed some 15 exchanges in 12 years. We will treat your home as our own, and take pride in leaving our house swop home in a clean and tidy state.
I am a retired Primary School teacher, and David is also retired from being an administrator with a City Livery Guild and he enjoys pottering around, improving our cottage and garden.
Mr Pip, the cat, usually amuses himself while wandering around the fields around the cottage. If he condescends to sit on your lap he will begin to purr like a sewing machine!
Our two adult children are based in California and Brighton.
