Eco-House in SOMERSET, South West Great Britain
Beautiful, historic Somerset.
Tourist features include: Somerset Levels & Wetlands, Mendip Hills, Cheddar Gorge, many large and small stately homes, Longleat House, Quantock Hills, Glastonbury Abbey, Wells Cathedral, Bishops Palace, Wells market (Wednesday/Saturday). Stonehenge & Avebury (1 hour). Pier at Weston Super Mare beach (35km) - see http://www.grandpier.co.uk, or Lyme Regis on the south coast http://www.lymeregis.org
Lytes Cary is close by. http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/lytes-cary-manor/
and Barrington Court. http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/barrington-court/
We only moved into our new timber frame house in April 2016 and we are keen to exchange having been waiting for 18 months to complete both the house and garden.
Jim and Jan are retired and are ready to exchange most places and at most times. We exchanged ten (10) times via Intervac, three of which were many years ago when our son was young. We have recently (April 2016) moved into our newly-built house which is a few minutes from the High Street. Our house at 28 Bullmead Close has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 balconies over 2 floors. We have a small garden pond and it is for this reason we do not feel our home is suitable for very small children. We do have a 7 year old grand daughter, Sophia, who is a regular visitor.

Glastonbury is 1km away with its alternative history. Wells Cathedral (10km) and Bath/Bristol 50km. London is 218km, for which there is a daily bus or trains every hour from Yeovil which is 20km.
Street is a small rural town (approx 10,000) which is home to Clarks Shoes. It has good local shopping 500m and two swimming pools. Clarks Village, which is a Retail Outlet Centre, is 8 minutes' walk away. http://www.clarksvillage.co.uk. The local area is excellent for nature reserves, walking and cycling.
We live on the edge of a new housing development, and Google maps does not yet show all the houses. Our newly-built eco-house is just at the edge of Cranhill Road carpark at the end of Bullmead Close.

Lifestyle
UK exchange only to house with moderate mobility access but MUST have accessible shower (ideally a wet room). My wife Jan, experienced a stroke over 2 years ago which has affected her right hand side. Wheelchair access not required. Stairs are OK.
Both of us in need of relaxing UK holiday. Can exchange for long weekend or unto a week.
We are in the Southwest of England and 1 hour, by car, from both Bristol and Bath. Stonehenge is also 1 hour away towards London.
Street's population is about 11,000 and the town is the home of Clarks Shoes and the popular Clarks (Retail) Village. The historic towns of Glastonbury and Wells are 1km and 10km distant and both well worth a visit, as are Cheddar Caves and the new Pier at Weston Super Mare.
Salisbury Cathedral is a very popular tourist destination with good shops.
Somerset is well placed for visiting many places, and has a wealth of interesting walks, hikes and cycling to offer. A wonderful bird reserve is only a few kilometres away across the Somerset Levels.
Our 150m2 eco-house is on the edge of a very new housing estate and is very easy to look after, with very good insulation and low running costs. The look of our 2 story, 3 bed, 3 bathroom house is unusal for a country village. We love it, having built it and moved in at the beginning of April 2016.
This is an "up-side-down" house. Bedrooms are downstairs and kitchen and living are upstairs. We have two bicycles.
